Symptoms of Low Testosterone

Lack of Energy

All men get tired, but prolonged, continuous fatigue at any age is not normal, and it can affect everything from your work performance to your attitude.

Reduced Libido

When a man’s testosterone level falls outside the normal range it can cause a decrease in libido. It doesn’t have to be permanent, we can help you restore it and be like your old self.

Weak Erections

The inability to perform sexually can be attributed to a lot of different factors: stress, poor health, and others. Another possible cause is low testosterone.

Poor Sleep

Poor sleep patterns lower testosterone and low testosterone can lead to poor sleep. If you improve your testosterone levels, your quality of sleep will improve

Decreased Muscle + Strength

You start noticing your strength decreasing, lifting heavy items seems to get harder, and at times everyday tasks are more exhausting. This can be a sign of low testosterone.

Depression

Your brain has many cells that are testosterone receptors; the low level of testosterone your brain receives affects your mood. Bringing hormone levels back to balance can improve mood levels.

You can make necessary lifestyle changes to help boost testosterone, such as improving your diet, getting plenty of sleep, and trying to reduce stress. However, for significantly low levels, medical and medication intervention will be required.

Please note that MedAssistant can’t provide any treatment for low testosterone, we can only advise what your levels are, and if they are considered to be low.  To advise we carry out a blood test that get’s sent to the lab, and you will get the results back within 24 to 48 hours.

Testosterone Replacement Therapy FAQs

What causes male testosterone deficiency/low T?

Low testosterone occurs when the body’s ability to produce hormones is interfered with. This can result due to;

  •     Testicular problems- The testicles produce 95% of all testosterone, so if there is a problem with your testicles or one of the tubes that carry sperm from the testicles to the penis, it can cause low T.
  •     Brain problems, particularly the hypothalamus- The brain controls how much testosterone your body makes thanks to signals from the hypothalamus. If this area is damaged or malfunctioning, you may produce too little or no T.
  •     It’s also possible that your body tissue isn’t responding well to testosterone or its metabolites (T byproducts)— testosterone resistance.

What are the TRT treatment options?

Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) is usually administered by a gel, cream, or injection. It is usually given as a gel or injection for the first two to six months, but it can be continued in these forms if good symptom relief is maintained.

The type and dosage of medication can be adjusted to ensure the patient receives the best low-T treatment tailored to their needs.

PLEASE NOTE WE DON’T OFFER ANY TREATMENTS, ONLY ADVISE YOUR TESTOSTERONE LEVEL

Is TRT like using a steroid?

Testosterone replacement therapy is not like steroid abuse. Steroids are often used illicitly to improve performance and muscle growth in men under 30 but can lead to serious health problems. On the other hand, TRT is a carefully monitored treatment, with extreme symptoms of Testosterone Deficiency Syndrome.

What are the benefits of TRT?

If you’re struggling with low testosterone, TRT can help. Research shows that TRT can improve sexual desire, erectile function, and satisfaction, as well as reduce body mass index and waist size in men who are obese and hypogonadal.

Testosterone replacement therapy may also help improve blood sugar control, lipid (fat) levels, body composition, and mineralization after 6 months of use. It can also reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes for people with prediabetes or cardiovascular disease.

What are the potential risks of TRT?

The potential risks of TRT are very low, and your health professional will monitor you for risks and side effects if you begin therapy. Our TRT (Testosterone Replacement Therapy) Blood Test can also help you to self-monitor at home.

Potential risks include:

  •     You might get excess testosterone, which should be managed by adjusting the dosage, changing the formulation, or stopping treatment.
  •     Skin irritation or variable levels of absorption with transdermal gels
  •     Pain and bruising at the injection site, particularly if injected into a muscle.
  •     Polycythaemia- A condition where you have too many red blood cells and hemoglobin, making the blood thicker than usual due to testosterone. This increases the risk of heart failure and stroke.
  •     Gynecomastia- Breast growth in men due to the imbalance of hormones, which can occur in up to 10-25 % of men taking TRT. Once you stop taking TRT, the condition usually goes away on its own in a few months.
  •     Skin conditions; Excess testosterone may cause skin conditions like acne, oily skin, or even hair growth on the face and body.

·      Sleep apnoea is a condition where you stop breathing in your sleep, and this can lead to headaches, daytime tiredness, and other symptoms. If you have sleep apnoea, testosterone replacement therapy could make it worse.

Is TRT the right treatment for you?

Testosterone replacement therapy is suitable for men with symptoms of low testosterone that significantly affect their quality of life. If you have mild symptoms of low testosterone, testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) might not be the best treatment option. In cases where your testosterone levels are only slightly reduced, lifestyle changes may be more appropriate.

Who shouldn't take TRT?

The following people should not take TRT due to potential health concerns:

  •     Active prostate cancer
  •     Male breast cancer
  •     An active desire to have children
  •     High levels of red blood cells (haematocrit >54%)
  •     Severe chronic heart failure

Does TRT cause prostate cancer?

The short answer is: no. There is no proven link between TRT and prostate cancer. However, as with any hormone therapy, you should ensure that your prostate is monitored before and during treatment—especially if you have a family history of prostate cancer or are at high risk for the disease.
